I like Myron's comments and it reminded me one of my puzzles. I think
some one in DEN might help me.
I heard that last year JUSE Deming Award winner is one Indian
transportation company( fourth foreign(OTJ,other than Japanese)
company).
The 'rumor'(i.e. what I heard) is the company shows all the arrival time
for the bus. Why? Isn't it is possible to make the driver tempering, for
example, the schedule is set with time allowance for jam but in case
the traffic condition is very smooth, then the driver needs to slow
down a lot and make all customers on board surprised with it...
I remember I took a Japan Airline from Chicargo to Tokyo and the arrive
time is like Dr. Deming mentioned about Japanese Railway Train.I cannot
believe it and althought I think the technology is available to
manupulate the plane on time without any 'loss' but I think maybe it was
overdone somehow.
You are lucky to read this mail from '1994'(alas, not 1984). Somesone
can help me fix the bug?
