What charts does a CEO need?
The question may be based on another consideration.......
How much involvement must the CEO have in design of a qualty system? AND
How much involvement must the CEO have in the ongoing performance of the quality
system?
THE BARE BONES APPROACH
If the CEO actively supports development of the quality system, maybe the CEO
would be happy and satisfied that the well designed system is function by
reviewing only the status of internal assessment and verfiying that corrective
actions were implemented as agreed to in the plan. The report of the
assessments and their progress in corrective actions then becomes the only table
(chart) shown to a CEO. The only other involvement of the CEO is when there is
a discussion in changing (PDC act) the quality system. I think this might be
the least preferable approach and maybe one of the most commonly used models.
GETTING MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
In my own experience the charts and reports to management in written form are
the single most important part of the quality system. especially is they are
structured to bring in decision and support. A large host of quality
professionals bemoan the lack of support by senior management in the quality
system, yet they have not provided any written documentation to senior
management.
