UK Deming Newsletter

[Moderator's Note: I have held this message for a few days for the wave of
messages about the BDA news to subside. I received 27 separate messages,
ranging from deep solice to 'how could you let that happen?' The situation
is exceedingly complex and basically a done deed - so this is not the forum
within which to debate it.

The following newsletter, however, offers options and (if you will) a ray of
sunshine:

Alan Winlow copied David Taeger's letter to the list earlier in the week.

Smith and Williamson, the corporate recovery specialists, will be
writing to all BDA members about the EGM on 29 March to decide on
liquidation.

Sandy Kinninmonth <mailto: AK3@smith.williamson.co.uk> writes:
"In the above paragraph you state that the purpose of the EGM is "to
decide on liquidation". Strictly speaking this is correct but I would
not wish the members to perceive that they can have a debate on such
matters on the 29th. The Board have exhausted all other possible ways
of saving the business and this is effectively the end of the road.
Presumably if anything could have been done it would have happened by now.

"The members, of course, have the right to attend the meeting and have
their say on any matter which concerns them. However I would like to
think that between now and the 29th any member with such a concern can
contact myself to discuss same."

Sophie and James continue to work from the Salisbury Office for at least
the next 4 weeks.

Smith & Williamson have decided that books, tapes and video sales should
continue so please continue to order from James.

The Alliance of Consultants continue to meet. Their next meeting is on
Monday 6 March in Birmingham. The topic is Best Value. Details from
Barry Mapp:
<mailto: "Barry Mapp" BARRY@learn-2-learn.freeserve.co.uk>

Colston Sanger tells me that London and South East Group have decided to
continue operating.  Details from:
<mailto: "Colston Sanger" colston@shotters.dircon.co.uk>

I am in discussion with my colleagues about the Bristol/Cotswold Network
<mailto:  Alan@bdabn.waitrose.com>

I have written to all other regional groups and hope to have meeting
details in the first UK Deming Newsletter -- details below.
