Bob Cornesky, who has probably written more quality in education texts
than anyone has received another grant to offer his workshop series
again at cost, with tuition covered by a grant:
On-Site Quality Improvement Workshops Information
We are pleased to announce that Cornesky & Associates recently received
a renewal of a foundation grant to conduct on-site Total Quality
Management (TQM) / Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) workshops for
three institutions of higher education. With our consulting fee of $500
per participant being covered by the grant, we can offer workshops at
your institution for travel expenses and the price of the workshop
materials. The travel expenses are either from Greenville, South
Carolina, or from Phoenix, Arizona. The
workshop materials are between $30 to $38 per participant. Each workshop
is limited to 50 participants.
The two-day, in-depth workshops that have been approved are either
classroom oriented or management oriented.
I. Classroom Oriented
Turning CQI Into Classroom Practice: A Collaborative Approach
This workshop introduces faculty to the "systems" approach where the
classroom is examined from the perspectives of four systems: 1)
thought-leader, 2) learning, 3) continuous improvement, and 4) reward.
The workshop also introduces 15 CQI tools and techniques for effective
teaching and assessment.
How to Use Quality Function Deployment to Build a Curriculum that Meets
the Needs of Your Customers
This workshop is intended to provide faculty with a flexible but
disciplined planning and implementation procedure in which the
customer's wants and needs are deployed throughout the curriculum of the
academic major. The procedure is known as Quality Function Deployment
(QFD). It provides a supporting system for making sure that customers'
wants and needs are sought after and heard and then incorporated into
the processes and systems of the department
courses.
II. Management Oriented
Turning CQI Into Institutional Practice: The Tools and Technique
This two-day, on-site workshop provides the participants with a
cooperative model for implementing CQI. This will permit them to
evaluate the quality of their units and institution. Then by using CQI
tools and techniques, they will be able to undertake steps to improve
the quality of service, student focus, and customer satisfaction.
If you are interested in bringing any of these professional development
opportunities to your institution, please contact us before April 15,
2000.
Your President must submit a one page letter proposal that should:
1. Describe your institution and the student population served
2. Identify the workshop or workshops and the dates requested
3. Indicate how the workshop(s) will benefit your quality initiatives
4. Indicate the number of participants (50 maximum per workshop).
A selection committee is scheduled to meet and make the first round
selections on April 30, 2000. All workshops must be completed before
November 30, 2000.
Submit your letter proposal to:
