Hi Richard.
There are plenty of SPC packages - some better some worse out there. We
can supply two, one is a cut down version of the other - however the
intersting thing is getting the data into the software in the first place -
if you intend to gather loads of data you do not want too much human
intervention. HOWEVER do you really need to track everything for all the
writers? Will you suffer from data overload and will the project become
one of producing loads of data rather than managiing improvement. Do you
need to take a step back and identify the big leavers within the system and
manage them.
I know it is a different level and different circumstance etc. But I
worked for a company that tried to measure and monitor most everything -
part of a BPR initiative, sorry for swearing on the DEN - the outcome was a
monster measurement tool on the network that took three of us best part of
a month to look after. There were thousands of parameters measured. One
month I took the (potentially) career limiting decision to switch the thing
off. I received one complaint from a company of 12,000 employees. That
complaint was delt with by producing one control chart per month, and even
that stopped when the director who used it reallised that nothing was
changing.
If we can be of help - for the SPC software or for the data collection
software let me know - but be sure that you need to collect all this data
before you start.
