Anyone, some recent statements on the DEN suggest that Baldridge can align
with the Deming philosophy. I am not particularly knoledgeable about
Baldridge, but I understand that the Human Resources assessment expressly
looks at the evidence "rewards" systems, something that seems to conflict
with Dr. Deming profound knowledge of psycholology and 14 points, diseases,
etc. I also have looked at some winner's policies and there are examples
where companies have supervisors set up goals (targets) and then review and
reward people based on the attainment of individual targets...is this not a
variation of appriasal and MBO? If these are the winners, and individual
reward is emphasized, how can that be consistent? Any illumination would be
appreciated.

Tom Coens
