This is a variation of "the Prisoners Dilemma". Both participants should be negotiating 'to get the most points possible' if they try to out guess or double cross the other, they pull each other down.
If on the other hand they co-operate and agree to both choose X each time both will achieve a score of 7x5=35 themost points possible, however greed will often break the trust between the parties and the resulting downward spiral depletes both.
