REQUEST: Does not having a grade point average hurt me?

I work at a college that is non-graded, 
meaning no grades and no grade point average.
Recently many student have begun to doubt this system.
Enough that the academic steering committee is
considering changing back to grades.
The big complaint is student feel that they are
losing scholarship opportunities.  I argue that
thisis not true but I need something to back this
up my claim. Does anyone know of way I can prove to
this community that no having a grade point average
does not hurt them?
