Red Beads

DENizens,

Although Dr. Deming did not say this formally, the Red Beads Experiment is
a perfect symbol of the SoPK. Thus it's a good way to start teaching SoPK.

1. Appreciation for a system
The willing workers, the inspectors, the foreman and the material should be
appreciated as a system.

2. Knowledge about variation
The issue is avoiding the two management mistakes when the foreman is
addressing the willing workers about objectives and results.

3. Theory of Knowledge
Which predictions can be done from the results ? by which method ?

4. Psychology
The foreman's comments is a masterpiece of wrong psychology: exhortations
for people who cannot improve the system performance.

And uppermost the Red Beads Experiment allows to emphasize the interactions
between the four SoPK components, especially between statistics and
psychology.
