RE: DEN - Value for Money?

This is a wonderful idea...my mind runs back to at least a couple of
occasions over the past several years when Jim ran the DEN from...was it a
laptop as he sat next to his wife's hospital bed? That was just one...I
believe there was at least one occasion when it was a laptop from HIS
hospital bed. Just let me know where to send the membership money.

As to whether we would expect some other value for our dues...maybe someone
would, I don't know. I get a lot more value from the format, and from the
information contained in most of the DEN messages, than I do from my
subscriptions to some other magazines.

I'm not sure it would work out, or how it would work, but I believe there is
a great deal of value in making the subscriptions voluntary, so that people
with more limited means can still have access (as others have suggested).

Another thing that might work...perhaps some sort of "greatest hits" book
could be assembled. Some of the best discussions we've had, organized by
thread, or by area of SoPK, might be compiled and published (St. Lucie or
SPC Press might publish it), and Jim might be paid something out of the
proceeds of that.

On a side note, I do wish Jim would consider training an emergency stand-in
or two...dedication is one thing, moderating from a hospital bed is another!

Count me in...let me know how.
