RE: MIL-STD 105E
The message from Douglas Hecker is "officially" true for all industries.
MIL-STD-105E is obsolete & is not being maintained by the government at all (as
is the case with most specs); however, lacking an alternative, most companies
(including companies that hold government contracts) still use the plan as a
sampling plan, but use the "c=0" rule, which means that if there are ANY rejects
in the lot, regardless of the quantity, the lot is rejected and subject to the
supplier's (and sometimes Customer's if the Customer's specs are not being met)
Material Board Review (MRB) for resolution (scrap, rework, sort, etc.).
Definitely the "AQL" part of the plan is considered archaic & NOT to be used
under any circumstances.
