Naturally-occurring or non-deliberately caused 'Environmental' causes of
fear are, unless you stay in bed all day, unavoidable. Even if you do lie in
bed all day you can still experience as much, if not more, fear by just
thinking about them. Your bodily responses - mental, emotional, physical can
be as intense as the 'real thing'.
More so since it is actually more difficult to jump out of the way of buses
or 40 ton trucks if they only exist inside your head. Especially if they
keep coming back every time you do jump out the way. If you lie in bed all
day that's much more likely to happen anyway.
Part of 'growing-up' is the development of robust, sensible, well-regulated
coping mechanisms to everyday acute, and sadly, chronic stressors.
The study asked about by Humberto would be covered by the general
undergraduate study of the human stress mechanism : how it works when it is
working well, when it is overloaded and so on. Later on and still at
undergrad level you might study what is called (euphemistically in my view)
abnormal psychology; itself a vast topic.
As a primer I would suggest the Houghton Mifflin text 'Psychology' by
Bernstein et al.
I think its at the 4th or maybe even the 5th edition.
That will lead you to the information you want.
I do not recommend jumping in at the deep end and struggling to the shallow
end.
If you develop a business 'system' it should ideally incorporate - in the
true sense of the word - the capability for the system itself to 'worry'
about the facts of life you describe. Insofar as it can reasonably be
expected to.
Nobody said it would be easy.
Sincere Regards
Morris
