Re: chain reaction

The so-called 'Deming Chain Reaction' is that if one pays attention to
quality, then as an inevitable result waste, re-work, scrap, defects, etc.,
and thus costs go down.

*At the same time* (and that is critical) quality improves. Thus, after
some time passes market position changes toward becoming the market's
'high-quality/low-cost' provider and that is a market share gaining
competitive position.

As Deming once said, "It's all very simple really." It is, at least
conceptually. I'm amazed more people don't understand it and use it as a
competitive strategy. It is very successful.

NB - It is important to pay attention to quality in a low cost way as well.
That means (among other things), not depending on inspection, forming
cooperative relations with suppliers, instituting training, etc., .....you
know, the 14 Points.
