Re: FW: On the entire "Quality Cost" Debate

I would like to thank Wayne Mack for his input on this topic. His input
begins with "If "do it right the first time" is equivalent to "zero defects,""
and it is here that we can begin to understand the problem of the statement
under question and the solution using WED's approach, i.e., WED INSISTED on
operational definitions (Why? To reduce variation, of course!).
One other message also noted the problem with the words, "it," and "right."
But Wayne offered an operational definition/meaning. Without such, the
statement "Do it right the first time" has zero meaning and applicability and
offers total ambiguity (as many, I am sure, can give testimony to).
So let us use this as a constructive example (vs. a cause for "debate" [the
only use for "de bate" is to catch "de fish"]) for future interaction on the
DEN. Following WED's SoPK let us be sure we have a common operational
definition (= shared meaning) as we proceed to follow the patch of PK. Such a
path will allow us to follow/apply the PDSA process leading to the goal of
continuous improvement in every aspect of the SoPK.
