The Deming Learning Network Ltd
As promised, and in appreciation of your support in the autumn, I =
thought I might let you know how we are getting on.
To progress our approaches with The Scottish Executive we did really =
have to incorporate our group. So we are now The Deming Learning =
Network Ltd. Our present Directors are Prof David Kerridge, Dr Tony =
Miller, David McAra and myself. It is our intention in the new year to =
ask if some of the members of our CEO club might join us on the board.
The original request for your support was for the DTI Partnership Fund - =
as we had not secured up front "Matching Funding" we did not succeed =
with this bid. - but we have been advised to try again in the spring.
We have been more successful with our request for a research project. =
The basis of the project is the quote from McGregor's quote from The =
Human Side of Enterprise" - "The theoretical assumptions management =
holds about controlling its human resource determine the whole character =
of the enterprise." - We are proposing that you can differentiate a =
modern successful organisation from a traditional organisation by the =
"Theoretical Assumptions" it holds. - That we can identify the change in =
theoretical assumptions that need to be secured to achieve =
transformation.
It is also in sympathy with Myron Tribus's observation that you have =
good companies ( 1 failure per thousand) and excellent companies (1 =
failure per million) and none in between. The aim is to highlight to the =
Scottish establishment the contrast and the nature of the transformation =
that is required.
We have got to the stage where we are now talking about a feasibility =
study - to examine if it is possible to make this differentiation. The =
Scottish Executive are preparing the parameters of the study. - Needless =
to say we are very excited about the possibilities - if the feasibility =
study is successful then we can convert it into a full blown research =
project and from there we will be able to influence the ministers in =
the Department of Enterprise and Lifelong Learning.
Slowly but surely we make progress - your support has made a big big =
difference in our credibility
HAPPY NEW YEAR
