Exposing Management Students to Deming

One area of influence we can have in supporting Dr. Deming's ideas is being
willing to guest-lecture for colleges. We have a branch campus of
Washington State University here in town. A management professor was
looking to find a guest lecturer and queried his class about it. One
student (this was a night course) had been through one of my Red Bead
sessions at work, and suggested it.

I did go in and do the Red Bead experiment for one of the class sessions. I
just received an invitation to come back in April, with the following
comment:

I am in the process of preparing my syllabus for a WSU Management class this
spring semester and was wondering if you would be interested in being a
guest speaker again. Your presentation on "The Red Bead Experiment" was
outstanding and such a hit with the students. I have scheduled you for
April 12, 2001, Thursday at 4:15, If you accept. Please advise.....

Of course I accepted. Off-line discussion with the moderator resulted in
the suggestion to post this as an example for "spreading the word".
