Look at Dr. Deming's business as a system diagram. It only portrays
information and/or materiel flow. People appear as things (entities). The
diagram doesn't portray the coordination of commitments although it may be
implied. Implication is not enough - coordination of commitments is at the
heart of the action in any human lead system. Information and materiel
follow.
Some interesting reading in this domain can be found by looking into the work
of:
Fernando Flores
John Austin
John Searle
Terry Winograd
Martin Heidegger
Maybe we can learn something from this body of work in speech act theory,
management, software design and philosophy. Maybe we can make Dr. Deming's
work of even more practical significance. Do you think that is what he may
have wanted? Conceptual pragmatism - he should it to us in the theory of
knowledge component of SoPK.
