RE: Volkswagen Quality
Thank You For Your Response Ed: The 1980's were a real low point in time
for Volkswagen Quality. I understand Volkswagen almost withdrew from the
USA. And as you pointed out ... there was Deming poking his head in through
an executive. I am sure this was a man like so many of us who have been
inspired by Deming ... read him and found a soul mate ... only later to have
our feelings crushed or so limited as to be ineffective ... not being able
get others to understand.
Lots of us have felt that way haven't we?
I am thinking inspection probably does remain a highly used tool of
Volkswagen in Europe ... Inspection use comes through to us in sales in the
USA ... we salesmen are judged on our "Customer Satisfaction Surveys" so we
simply manipulate our customers to answer all of the questions correctly and
they do ... we are car salesmen for Christ's sake ... do I need to say
anything more? Those survey's/inspections are useless.
I am hoping any other reader of this string on Quality In Europe that has
any first hand knowledge especially of Volkswagen will respond.
Thank you Ed,
Will
