Hi ALl,
In responce to Tony, Rip suggested.
If you can get your manager's manager's attention for an hour, I

Cannot fault that, however if there is a possibility of only a short period
with the Boss's Boss, you can do similar with a standard 6 sided die. aim
is to throw threes, half a dozen goes each and then rank on the value added
by each individual....
More time and you can do the same but with six dice, three pairs. If you
go to a Games Workshop store or similar they sell 6 sided die numbered 1
through 3, 1 through 6 and 3 - 4 only. Pair them off and the idea is to
throw seven with minimum variation. Again rank performance based on the
scores. It is clear even to a young child that the dice numbered 1 - 3
will never produce a seven - process incapable, but there is the assumption
that the 1 - 6 and 3 - 4 pairings will each have an average of 7 (Mmmmm we
know better but enough of that....) however the 3-4 produce more 7's and
less variation that the 1 - 6. Basic step to asking about the system
capability of the processes we are running and how he or she wishes you to
identify whether all the workers have the same set of dice, and the time
period of the ranking.
Best of luck
R
Roger.
