Combating Ranking of Employees

Hello Group:

I believe much of the current infatuation with ranking comes from Jack
Welch.  I remember reading one interview with him in which he said "If I
have tem people working with me I will rank them best to worst.  The top
one or two will be on the fast track, and receive more pay.  The next six
will be considered average, and the last two will be in serious need of
development, and will not receive any pay increases.  In spite of Mr.
Welches success, he clearly does not know anything about systems or the
interdependence of  componenes or people.
