RE: 100% Inspection



On the discussion of 100% inspection, if one reviews Chapter 15 of OOTC
(entitled "Plan for Minimum Average Total Cost for Test of Incoming Material
and Final Product") you will find that the conclusion Dr. Deming drew was
that one should EITHER

	Not sample (0% sample) and trust the process
	Sample 100%

Note that this does not support the idea of "random sampling" or sampling
some fraction of the population.  All or Nothing is the primary answer
(though the chapter does contain some information from Joyce Orsini calling
for a partial sample under certain conditions).  Assuming you are in
statistical control.  The all or nothing decision is based upon the ratio of

	cost to inspect parts
	cost to repair an assembly because a defective part was put in
