Hello all,
I am in the midst of an interesting situation.
Approximately two years ago I began a journey sponsored by a senior member
of my company to answer a major problem...how to provide quality training
for applications development and implementation projects specifically
involving ERP products (SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.). The specific guidelines and
objectives of this project were to develop a solution set involving internal
and external resources to achieve:
* Establishment of an appropriate, recommended level of effort to
assure successful post-go-live operational capabilities
* Human Factors/Change Management integration within the training
solution
* The training solution MUST be performance-based
* There must be no denigration in SAP operational bandwidth due to the
solution set
* The solution products must be repeatable, reusable, and
highly/easily modifiable across a range of client organizations
Specific requirements included:
* Automatic capture of all associated applications supporting the
business process
* Automatic generation of procedural documentation
* Portal of procedural documentation into a searchable repository
* Common format in XML
* Support foreign content management through XSLT
* Thin client delivery
* Fast/simple authoring environment
* Taxon stencils (imposes taxonomy to documentation and web pages)
* Live-in-SAP learning & performance support in the following formats
* Show Me
* Guide Me
* Let Me Try
* Test Me
* Do It For Me
* Accommodation of cultural differences
The team accomplished these goals and others, creating a
powerful new tool set that is much more advanced than its closest
competitors. We have been introducing this tool set to our organization and
have been experiencing extensive resistance even though it is less expensive
than all other tools and more capable. Any advice is appreciated on how to
push this.
