moderation and inspection

Howdy,

I glanced in on the DEN postings today (I usually don't have "time" to
read them much, these days) and noticed the issue of whether the
moderation constitutes "inspection" and should be eliminated.

It seems to me that the analogy is apt but that the conclusion does
not necessarily follow.  Elimination of inspection goes along with
reduction of suppliers to a trusted few, and indeed if only Myron
Tribus were allowed to post then you could completely eliminate
inspection, on the spot.  However, the goals in this case would seem
to include _increasing_ the number of suppliers, and it seems to me
that the _same_ theory that leads to "reduce inspection" in _many_
instances would probably lead to "keep up the inspection" in this
case.
