Several years ago, I started to do some contributions to our educational reform
here. One thing I learned is the philosophy of education is the 'ultimate end' of
all philosophy studies, including business.
You might note friends in DEN sometimes using Deming Philosophy as well as System
of Profound Knowledge. At the beginning of my journey, my thinking is 'to bring
the business thinking to schools' and soon I changed my mind, it is better
feedback business world with the philosophy of education. Of course the world of
schools has many issues but I think the distinguish 'means' and 'ends' is
important.
One sound and better way of understanding Dr. Deming's teachings is to think it
in terms of educational processes or systems. Then the so called SoPK becomes
very simple, like the renewal or relearning the Tradition of General Knowledge
by E. H. Gombrich) . For example, read B. Russell's Education and Social Order
(1932, say, the chapter on 'competitions in education') and you might know the
essential points of Dr. Deming's teachings.
