Robert A. Ferrell suggests:

I agree that we are wasting our time to discuss this without more
information. It is not the sort of question to which the exchange of
opinions makes any useful contribution.
But speaking for myself, I have no idea whether I could continue to
take part in a different form of discussion system. I just lack the
technical knowledge, and I expect I am not alone. I suspect that
if I and others put all these questions via the DEN, it would drive
all normal discussion off the DEN for weeks. I suspect that the
problems of those outside the USA may be very different from those
within it: but again I don't know.
Could I suggest that instead of an immediate vote, or even a questionnaire,
we set up a fact finding committee to discover what the technical
problems are. This group could invite suggestions and questions
from individuals - directly to the committee, *not* to the DEN.
And if the committee contains sufficient technical expertise,
most of the questions can probably be answered without ever
appearing on the DEN itself.
I will volunteer to be a committee member, but can not contribute
anything but sufficient ignorance to ask stupid questions. But then,
the only really stupid questions are those we fail to ask.
Perhaps Jim Clauson and the experts who manage the system
on the Clemson site could also join this fact-finding system.
