RE: SPC Rules



Denizens,

I think that the psychology thread of SoPK implies that we should interpret
people's actions for what they might mean. If people generate an abundance
of charts and data so that they cannot see the wood for the trees, what is
that chance that they really want to understand the process. Rather they are
demonstrating that they want to please people who value charts and data and
to show they are being objective in what they are doing.

In trying to help people "where they are" rather than dealing with the
symptoms, should we not be concentrating on the dealing with the need to
please or the need to be seen to base everything on "objective" criteria?
Does reducing the data meet these needs? (It might).
