Hello Group:

On the use and misuse of charts.  I believe one of Deming's quotes in the
section under a Theory of Knowledge is: "Information is not knowledge."
What I have observe in a number of companies is that they have boundiful
data, but it is not organized in any method that is usable.  Several years
ago I was working with a group in a bank.  I taught them how to do a run
chart, and gave them an assignment to organize some of their data into a
run chart.  The next week one of the ladies in the class came in and said
"For the first time I can see what is actually happening in my operation."
"We have had all of this information available for years, but is has simply
been numbers on a page."
