Re: The value of the DEN
This quote from Mr. Adsett really hit home. I completely agree.
"Restating in my own words is for me is a very valuable aspect of the DEN as
it gives me the opportunity to explore my learning against some of, dare I
say it, the anecdotes that are shared. It also is an aid to help me to
explore my understanding of the application of the SOPK and gives me a
chance to explore in my own mind, or by replies to the DEN my limited (but
hopefully growing) understanding."
And since today for me is "Quote Dr. Deming Day", I was wondering about the
following Deming quotes in relationship to anecdotal conversations Vs.
conversations based on fact and numbers.
"3% of the problems have figures, 97% of the problems do not."
"We should be guided by theory, not by numbers."
"There is no such thing as fact."
"The most important figures for management of any organization are unknown and
unknowable."
