In the metal stamping and forming industry, we routinely run into
characteristics that exhibit Cpk estimates in the double digits.
Typical examples are stamped hole diameters, hole patterns, etc.
These types of characteristics exhibit very little variation, yet
are routinely identified by sincere (but unknowing), customer
design and quality people as characteristics requiring "S.P.C."!!!
Quite often, we can't reliably measure enough part-to-part
variation to make the requested analyses even rational.
Yes, high value Cpk estimates are possible.
