Oh, what a shame that Don Peterson didn't trash the review system at Ford 
back in the 80's when I was there.  And now we can say, "They should have 
known, Deming tried to teach them, but they did not learn . . ."  So, Ford is 
wasting enormous amounts of energy and valuable resources to correct a 
situation that should have never happened.  Morale is low at a time when Ford 
needs everyone to concentrate on quality and the customer issues currently at 
hand.  Instead, people are undoubtedly jockeying for position and favor with 
the "boss" in order to get a good ranking.  Thus, "Off we go to the Milky Way 
. . ."  When will people learn that there is no substitute for leadership and 
real time coaching and mentoring?
