Re: noitavitoM
noitavitoM:
I once included the following acronym in a presentation I did
about being a change agent, or Leader.
C.O.A.C.H.
C: Counsel and teach by example, by demonstration, and by
continual learning.
O: Take ownership for the process. Accept responsibility. It is
"Our" process, project, or initiative, not the "company's".
A: Be an advocate of everyone you represent. Defend and praise
them loudly in public, correct them quietly in private.
C: Be a cheerleader, not a taskmaster. Celebrate and publicize the
successes, learn from the failures.
H: Always help. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
Nurture an environment of pride, joy of accomplishment, and
freedom to discuss and learn from mistakes (yours too).
Counsel, Own, Advocate, Cheer, Help
I believe this is part of substituting Leadership for Management.
