I also enjoyed this article and admire any company that seriously attempts
to implement the Deming management philosophy. But I do have a couple of
questions concerning their implementation. In the article it said that H&B
picked several of the 14 points... I thought that the 14 points is a package
deal (system) and that all needed to be implemented together. You don't get
to pick and choose. Do I have this right?
Also, in the sidebar "Making Bats for Pros" they seem to indicate that lathe
adjustments are made via specification limits. Isn't this a form of
tampering? Where's the SPC implementation in the manufacturing operation?
Perhaps I'm being too picky.
