Dr. Deming is often quoted as saying something like, "No number of examples
is sufficient to establish a theory."
In other words, the plural of anecdote is not data.
I take Ms. Orsini's comment at face value, meaning that the plumber was off
the hook with regards to having to apply Dr. Deming's principles in his line
of work. Although I don't know Ms. Orsini, I do believe the comment was made
with tongue firmly in cheek.
