Amen! At an Ohio Quality and Productivity Conference several years ago, a VP
from a northeastern energy firm addressed the conference about his first
conversation with Dr Deming. It went something like this: "I was in line to
get Dr Deming to sign my copy of OOTC at a 4 day conference. While he was
signing the book I asked him if he knew of any energy companies adopting his
methods we could go and visit. He answered, 'Why don't you just visit a
department store." Later at the conference the gentleman discovered his room
at the hotel was next to Dr Deming's and they began a conversation that lead
to Dr Deming helping his company out. Could be that Dr Deming was abrupt many
times because he repeated himself often enough during his seminars (in
various ways) that he might have felt that most should get his points? I
never got the impression that Dr Deming was arrogant or abusive. Just maybe
a little tired of having to repeat himself.
