Think of the power of companies linking with their suppliers so they
receive white beads only, then the suppliers linking with their suppliers so
they get the best material to make white beads out of. Hence, one of the 14
points is brought to life. Point (obligation or, "Principle of
Transformation," in Out of The Crisis, ISBN 0-911379-01-0, page 31, at the
bottom of the page), number four is brought to life and takes with it many
other points that will work interdependently with each other.
Management the world over must nurture joy and pride in work. Management
must nurture cooperation. This will take leadership.
Our ego's get in the way. "We managers have already learned the correct
management techniques many years ago." They were taught to us by learned
and respected people.
Many say that the established three generations of management work well
because they have seen them work. Generations of management as described
in, "Fourth Generation Management," ISBN 0-07-032715-7, pages 7 through 10).
Isn't it ironic that we must believe that we were the only game in town
(the strongest industrial nation at the time) and just about any form of
management would have worked.
At that time, "If we could supply then they would buy!!!"
Now that we have real competition from other peaceful countries, some
realize that they must get more out of themselves and their employees.
We have world wide companies now. They are interested in developing world
peace.
Power is given by the people who are being lead. Leaders need followers
who are intrinsically motivated. How many war zones will we have on our
space ships and space stations?
Dr. Deming encouraged management to nurture the employees and help the
employees improve the processes on a continual basis. Intrinsic motivation
needs to be nurtured.
What a challenging future we all have, interdependently.
Respectfully,
Charlie
