Some years ago I have had the opportunity to see with my own eyes how much
political leaders of the Third World have a selfish and destructive view. I
spent a long time in African countries: all what I saw and heard there is
in full agreement with what Cynthia wrote. This problem saddens me greatly
because I feel that nobody can help these countries to improve the system.
On the short term, apart from NGO's programs which help people surviving, I
think that we can help you by developing "one to one" contacts between
educated people of rich and poor countries. Internet offers great
opportunities which aren't yet fully explored.
On the long term, expanding education to all the population is absolutely
necessary. I believe that it's possible only if the middle class people
commit themselves in educative programs. Next the practices what we call
here "democracy" may become reality in your country, and perhaps you will
get competent and honest political leaders.
Best wishes,
