Dear DEN,
Fordham University has new opportunities for Companies to advantage of
sponsoring an intern from the Deming Scholars Program. This is a rare
opportunity for companies to share in the learning experience of students
participating in the only University program recommended by Dr. W. Edwards
Deming himself.
The Deming Scholars Program was founded in 1992 with the intent of applying
the theories of Dr. Deming in a traditional MBA program. The program is
structured with cycles of classroom learning and, through internships, an
opportunity to test theory, experience learning, experience leadership as
well as practice teamwork. Companies and executives who have sponsored
Deming Scholar Interns have found they contributed to their organizations
through many different aspects. Two feedback comments most often received
from executives about the Deming Scholar Intern is: the contribution of an
outside view that the Intern brings to the organizations, and the tough
questions which are asked by the intern that drive to the heart of the
organization. Making the organization stop a moment and take a look at
themselves as well as look at what the organization is doing.
Students in the Deming Scholars Program are not your typical MBA students.
A requirement for admission to the program is that the students must have
worked for a few years after completing their undergraduate degree.
Students bring 'real world' experience upon which to draw during their
education. Interns from the Deming Scholars Program, while developing new
understanding in the theories of Dr. Deming, bring a maturity level not
normally found in 'traditional' Interns. The spectrum of work experiences
of Deming Scholars Interns run from a few years, to people who have
fulfilled one career and are embarking on new challenges.
Since the inception, approximately 90 people have completed the Deming
Scholars Program. So this is a very rare opportunity for you and your
organization to both contribute and benefit from the program's aim to build
a foundation for leadership in the new economic age.
If you or your organization want to know more about how your company can
help and benefit from this program, please contact Joyce Orsini, PhD at
