RE: Organizational Structure & DNA

I think the idea of changing the DNA of an organization sounds great. What is it though? Operationally what is the DNA of an organization? We have maps of DNA in biological systems and they are very helpful for changing things, but we don't yet have useful maps for changing the DNA of our organizational systems. Similar maps exist for the fundamental structures in our mechanical systems - they are the atomic structures of the materials in the systems. Maps of tasks and our data do not represent the fundamental structures in our organizational systems in my opinion. There are more fundamental forces at work than processes consisting of tasks and data - we've not yet figured out a useful way to map the "DNA" of the organizational systems.
