Re: "System" definition
This post reminds me one paper we read last month which might be relevant (I
am not very sure but it might be interesting). The paper uses a advice from
Niels Bohr that "...every analysis of the conditions of knowledge must rest
on considerations of the character and scope of our means of communication."

I appreciate what late H. A. Simon says " ...two main type of descriptions
that seem to be available to us in seeking an understanding of complex
systems. I shall call these state descriptions and process descriptions."
