Re: Defining a system
Bob raised an interesting and important question.
I offer my 5 cents.
I think when Dr. Deming talk about "defininition", he prefers "operational definitions".
In his SoPK, the essence is to "appreciate" a system.
For his purpose, I think enough are written in The New Economics about "it".
It is might be wise not to "define" the words like "quality' or "system" in one sentence. Let's read them in the context of his SoPK ( and books).
We had a conference discussing about The Art of Possibility by Zanders. One of the authors is an expert of the family systems. One member asked what are "family system". I think most of us know the purpose of a family and interactions of it and how difficult to "appreciate a system".
