RE: REQUEST: Continuous improvement in sports

  Might ask the team, "What kind of business are we in?"  Might develop some
operational definitions for key words in your business description. Might
find out what is supplied to this business?  Might find out who the real
customers (paying, supporting, you need them to survive) and who the
consumers are?  Might develop a theory about how your do your business
(Operational Definitions for key words or phrases are needed here to.  Might
want to develop an aim for your business.  Quality characteristics are
indicators along the way that are related to accomplishing the aim and
providing the customer what they need.  Might want to ask yourselves, "What
are the issues involves with playing football and having joy and pride in
that play?" 
  Managers need to work through this with the team then go away and finalize
it.  If the team is to manage itself using team member's talents as they are
needed then the team members are all managers.
  After reading the above, you might want to answer the questions: "What are
the issues involved with getting started?";
"What are the issues involves with identifying the kind of business we are
in?"  Start making a plan and ask yourselves, "What are the steps involved
with developing a theory and a plan to make all this happen?"
