Re: Definitions needed please

Good Day Allen and Fellow Denizens,

first principle questions:-

> What is the groups definition of the term "Objective"?

A desirable state the process team/management/function wants to achieve and
has relevance to overall desirable state the organisation wants to achieve
(say a quality policy).

> Secondly, what are the descriptive attributes of "process"?

Over and above what all of us are familiar with - the traditional stuff
like input-transformation - output, the start and end points of "process"- A
process starts with a need and ends with fulfillment of that need.

A recruitment process starts with identification of need and ends with the
appointment of competent person and infact must extend up to the time
appointed
person reaching Level 4 Competence (Unconscious Competence - Mike Vance,
Myron Tribus) in his/her post.

Finally, in a similar vein, what are the descriptive attributes of a
> "performance measure"?

Any thing that helps in understanding / deciding (quantitatively)

a) How well are we doing?
b) Are we meeting our objectives? (ie desirable state)
c) Are customers satisified?
d) are processes in statistical control?

Performance measures (whatever they may be) must provide information
necessary to make sound
decisions about what to do next.
