Re: The Wrath of Kohn

The state of Georgia has something known as the Georgia Oglethorp award.
This is a state quality award patterned after the national Malcomb
Baldridge award. Last Thursday I attended the local meeting of ASQ. A
gentleman was there from Gwinette County Public Schools. This school
system won a Georgia Oglethorp award this year. I was discussing education
with him briefly during a break and told him that our Deming Study Group
had been studying education and the application of Deming's concepts to
education for the last year and a half and that we had concerns regarding
the testing program the state in embarking on. His reply was that without
testing how could you have any accountability.

My question to the group: How can you have accountability without testing?
How can you know is education is taking place and that students are being
prepared for life long learning without testing?
