Great Example of Deming Principles

In the following link,
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?020722fa_fact
a The New Yorker article by Malcom Gladwell on the culture of Enron, does an
extraordinary
job of illustrating a number of Deming's points, including:

Deming's assertion that those who hire the very best "get what they
 deserve"

That perfomance comes from well integrated systems, rather than from
 individuals

That it is almost impossible to rate the performance of individuals, given
how much that performance is effected by the system generally, and factors
 beyond the individual's control.

Interestingly , I also saw some examples of Deming-like thinking taken to
 absurd lengths.
