RE: Defining Deming Customers

Den Colleagues,

Dr. Tribus is precisely correct in what he states as "products" of
education. In maintaining old mental models it can be difficult to move into
uncharted territory, and yet most invigorating and humbling.

If we are interested in "doing" differently, we must learn to somehow think
differently. Once done, it is very difficult to go back.

What are we or the system producing? Why does the existing educational model
continue to maintain that it is possible to raise the standard next year,
when the present standard could not be met last year or this year?

The present educational system (assuming there is one) cannot be expected to
plow new ground when it is constrained within the "specification ruts" of
regulators and politicians who seek to raise the bar without understanding
the system itself.

There is great wisdom in what Myron says, if we only live long enough to
fully comprehend it.
