The New Yorker article of September 23 has helped me to appreciate even more
the teachings of Dr. Deming. I was shocked to discover that two MBA types
created the background for what has long been the hidden philosophy behind
corporate management. Now I know why Dr. Deming's philosophy or even TQM has
had such a hard hard struggle of being accepted in the corporate /
organization boardroom and upper management. It would not have been in THEIR
interest.
Quality demands ethicical behavior and a focus on the customer, employees and
all stakeholders.
Is this our window of opportunity?
I too will be using the article in my classroom for student learning about
quality, systems thinking and ethical studies.
