"Iron Chefs"
Having watched the "Iron Chefs" (a Japanese cooking competion is the easiest
way to describe it, but it appears to be more) on the "Food Network" cable
channel a few times, I was interested in knowing what this show says about
Japanese culture and Dr. Deming's influence.
My questions, to someone who has seen this show (preferably the original
Japanese version) and is familiar with Japanese culture and Dr. Deming:
1. Are the English translations correct? Is what is going on really being
portrayed properly?
2. Although a "competition", the show does seem to have the chefs saying
phrases like "I will do my best", and upon announcement of the "winner",
there does seem to be a fairly cooperative atmosphere, dignity and respect
between the two chefs.
