Re: Special cause / Common cause

A broken mold pin causing a reject......

This post has only more questions from me.

Was it a new mold pin that broke, or a replacement ?

How long had the pin been in service ?

How many mold pins do you have ?

How many have broken ?

How long do they last ?

How long should they last ?

Has your production increased ?

Is your system given routine maintenance ?

Is it a design flaw that requires more pins, or has the mold been in
effective use for years ?

One man's common cause could be anothers special cause. Could a common
cause production defect by the pins producer be a special cause problem
for the customer ?

The definition may change as our knowledge of SoPK grows. There may
be no simple answers, just hard work.

It hopefully never ends!!!

Thanks,

John Kalister
