I am currently having a close look at measurement in business settings
and I am struck by the issue of ownership and respect. The implication
of testing is that I know what is the right answer for you to give, i.e.
I am competent to assess your level of learning. The implication of
measurement in management settings is often that I have the right to
determine what counts as productivity for you.

I think that this position in its generality is abusive and that nothing
good can come of it. We might however care to contrast the Sufi position
that only someone further long the path to knowledge than I am can
understand what I need to learn next.
