If you have access to the QS-9000 automotive quality management system
documentation from AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group), it is
described in detail in the statistics manual ($30 by itself (part#
SPC-2) or $225 for the entire QS 7-pack (part# Q7-K), non-member
